On Saturday 26th February, RBL hosts DE RIO’s showcase, independent Techno music label and young collective from Florence (Italy), on occasion of the Turin-based duo DVRNT’s release, that is going to play live at the event on RBL’s non-frequencies. Three members of the collective – ABO, TOMO and Plastique01 – are going to anticipate the duo’s live-set, playing their own music selections, for one hour each.
DE RIO was founded in 2019 with the idea of promoting club culture through parties, events, DJ sets and live sets, organized in unusual places – like parks, abandoned buildings, spaces of historical, artistic and social interest. From 2021 DE RIO has also been an independent label, whose productions are distributed by Lobster Distribution.
Abo (Daniele Carcassi) is a DJ, producer, sound designer and experimental musician. He swings between Florence and Bologna, with a selection on vinyl of Worldmusic mixed with Acid, Rave and House sounds. His productions are a combination of analog synths, digital elaborations, pre-existing music and field-recording.
TOMO (Tommaso Andorlini) is a multi-instrumentalist, DJ and producer based in Florence. Co-founder of DE RIO and passionate about vinyl, he ranges from the exotic and tribal rhythms of Global music (promoted in his radio show Zululand on Controradio) to Techno from both 1990s’ Detroit and the contemporary Nu Rave scene between London and Berlin.
Plastique01 (Giulio Da Rin) is a DJ and producer based in Florence. He plays analog-only live sets, with a setup composed of drum machines, samples, synths and basslines, whose sound ranges from Acid House to Detroit Techno. In 2018, he released his first self-produced album, titled Love poems from Underbrush.
DVRTN is an electronic duo based in Turin, formed by Lorenzo Donato and Francesca Bruna. The duo released their first EP, Incontri, in January 2022 for DE RIO. Their sound is characterized by fast, sustained, powerful rhythms, influenced by tribal and industrial Techno sounds.
