On occasion of its first self-produced releases, the newborn independent label from Padua, 72v – soon to be releasing an album and a compilation -, will be hosted by RBL for a new label showcase, that will take place in the evening of Saturday 2nd April, live from 8pm to 12pm.
Five artists produced by 72v are going to participate in the showcase hosted by RBL. They are CupoCupo, Dodger, OTU, VARSAVIA and xx.buio.
72v is not just a new indie label: it is a cultural imprint offering itself as a meeting point for Electronic music and the Internet aesthetics. 72v settles its roots in the belief of promoting artistic freedom, never compromising itself under the pressure coming from the music business. 72v aims at binding the various subgenres of Electronic music in order to unleash their communicative prower, which rumbles within Italy through the label’s live showcases.
OTU was born as a duo in 2018 and it soon became a collective in which protagonists, styles, instruments and influences are constantly rotating. Their new record – planned to be released in 2022 – is called GOODKIDS and it’s a new instrumental and electronic sound exploration, crossing dreamlike landscapes and dark territories. OTU will play these pieces live, anticipating something about the new projects on which the collective has been constantly working.
CupoCupo is a duo of musicians from Bergamo, starting their journey in 2019, shaping the soundscape of their live performances by experimenting with acoustic instruments, live manipulated voices and samplers. They released their debut EP, Hypermetabolism, at the beginning of 2021 on the American label TAR by PBDY (Brainfeeder). In December 2021 they released their second EP, Armor, on the Turin-based label Paynomindtous, in which their obsession for Post-Club sonorities sounds definitely stronger.
Dodger (D. Canova) is a 22-year-old producer from Italy. After exploring hyper-synthetic territories in two strictly bedroom-produced-singles, he curated the executive production of the avant-pop EP, 123stella, by Luchino Luce, released in June 2021. His new track Coping Meccanismo is soon to be released on 72v.
VARSAVIA is a project curated by Giulio Patarnello – born in 1999 -, which was born and will die in Padua between the end of 2019 and the half of 2022. The artist claims that “music is a sound synthesis of a specific aesthetic, but it doesn’t stay anywhere”. VARSAVIA’s music doesn’t mean anything and it’s currently composed of two EPs – the first one, BURST CITY, released in September 2020 and the second one going to be released between Winter 2021 and Spring 2022.
xx.buio is a producer from Livorno, Italy, founder and artistic director of the collective XX IDRA. Straight after winning the 2021’s Academy of the contest Open Sound, he moved to Milan, where he started working with numerous artists from the metropolis’ experimental independent scene. His productions vary from Techno to Art Pop and since a few months he’s succeeded as one of the most productive and versatile producers among the emerging.
