Lavanderia a Vapore di Collegno is the only center for dance residencies in Piedmont and it’s a member of EDN – European Dancehouse Network, the prestigious European network of dancehouses, and of the ENCC – European Network of Cultural Centres, the Brussels based European network of new cultural centres. Putting research and culture its main focal and action points, Lavanderia a Vapore builds relations starting from its territory and reaching internationality. It is a space in which the dialogue between past and present is alive and visibile, in a continuous tension towards contemporary creative practices and experimentation. Performances, artistic residencies, formation and multidisciplinary projects animate the different spaces of a building that once was the laundry of the Italy’s largest psychiatric hospital. The relation with the audience and the citizenry is essential: Lavanderia a Vapore is a place for experimentation, internationally renowned for its innovative policies in audience engagement, with many projects aimed at the community and to animate the cultural debate of its territory.
